Remedies for rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the joints and other organs. It is characterized by soreness, swelling, morning stiffness and limited movement in the joints.

Treatment for rheumatoid arthritis is aimed at controlling inflammation, reducing pain, and preventing progression of the disease. Consider the main tools that are used to treat rheumatoid arthritis.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and diclofenac are the first line of treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. They help reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and improve joint function. However, they do not affect the progression of the disease and may have side effects, so they must be taken under medical supervision.

Baseline antirheumatic drugs (PRPs): PRPs such as methotrexate and leflunomide are the mainstay of treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. They have an anti-inflammatory effect and slow down the progression of the disease. Antirheumatic drugs require regular monitoring and control by a doctor.

Biologics: Biologics such as adalimumab, infliximab, and others are synthesized proteins that aim to block inflammatory cytokines and reduce immune system activity. They are used in cases where conservative treatment is ineffective. Biological drugs can have serious side effects, so their appointment should be carried out under the supervision of a rheumatologist.

Glucocorticosteroids: Glucocorticosteroids, such as prednisolone, may be used to reduce inflammation and relieve symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. They can be used as injections directly into the joints or as systemic drugs for severe symptoms. Physical Therapy and Exercise: Physical therapy and exercise can be helpful in treating rheumatoid arthritis. A physical therapist can develop a personalized program that includes exercises to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and maintain overall physical activity.

Diet and change lifestyle: Diet and lifestyle changes also play an important role in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Consumption of foods rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C and vitamin D is recommended. In addition, it is important to maintain a healthy weight, avoid smoking and limit alcohol consumption.

It is important to note that the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis should be comprehensive and individually selected under the supervision of a physician. Each patient may have different needs and requirements and therefore it is important to work with a rheumatologist to develop the most effective treatment plan.

It must be remembered that self-medication is not recommended, and it is important to consult a doctor for professional medical advice and optimal treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. Only a qualified doctor can determine the best means and methods of treatment, taking into account the characteristics of each individual case.
