The spread of hepatitis A in the Kyiv region: Safety measures and challenges for educational institutions

Another case of hepatitis A was recorded in the Kyiv region, the transmission of the infection was likely through contact and household contact. This alarming news has already led to the closure of the Brovary Higher School of Physical Culture for quarantine, which emphasizes the seriousness of the situation.

The Brovarsk Higher School of Physical Culture was temporarily closed after one of its employees fell ill with hepatitis A. The director of the Brovarsk district branch of the State University "Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine" Olena Levchenko reported about this case of the first infection with a viral disease in the Kyiv region, recording the probability of contact-household transmission of infection.

The college is actively taking anti-epidemic measures, covering 84 people from the risk group who had contact with the patient. These individuals, including students and staff, will be under medical supervision for 35 days and will undergo the necessary laboratory biochemical tests. It should be noted that four children from this group are currently in the hospital, but with diagnoses of covid and SARS, without suspicion of hepatitis A.

The commission in Brovary also inspected the points of water filling, finding violations of sanitary standards in four of the five inspected places. This indicates the need to increase the requirements for sanitary and hygienic control in the field of water supply, in particular in the context of prevention of cases of infection with viral diseases.

It is important to note that hepatitis A has been recorded in various regions of Ukraine, including Vinnytsia, Prykarpattia, Ternopil, Transcarpathia, Volyn, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Joint monitoring and coordination of efforts by national and regional authorities are becoming critical for effective control and countering the spread of this disease.

It is worth noting that hepatitis A is transmitted through contact and household, so compliance with all recommendations for hand washing, drinking clean water and safety measures becomes extremely important.
